Our Culture
Traditional Thai classical dance was one of the most stunning and unique art forms that elegantly express Thailand’s rich cultural heritage through beautiful and graceful dance movements. It is also one of the most fascinating art forms in the diverse arts and culture of Thailand.
Thai Dance Society
We are a group of professional Thai classical dancers who are passionately committed to one of our main pillars of Thai culture – Thai Classical dance. From the land of smiles, we are here to promote and inculcate a sense of understanding and appreciation of Thai culture through dance performance. Delivering the art once reserved only for the Royal count in Thailand. Our professional dancers were all well trained and degree holders in [Thai Classical Dance] from few major universities in Thailand. We had also incorporated contemporary dances with traditional Thai dancing to present an extraordinary performance that you’ll rarely see.
History
Thai Dance Society was formed back in June 2010 by Ms Naree (krun Naree). It all began with an invitation from Absolute Thai, a famous international Thai musical culturalism group. Ms Naree (krun Naree) was invited to share, exchange and teach a group of students in various art schools and university in Singapore, such as NUS, NAFA, SOTA etc… And was also honoured to perform numerous events in cooperation with Absolute Thai.
As Southeast Asia is one of the most rapidly growing regions in the world with natural and cultural resources, it is important to pass on the cultural knowledge and understanding to the next generation. Ms Naree (krun Naree) came to a realisation of the need for promoting and sharing this unique and beautiful dance culture of her country in Singapore. And with the help of the founder of Absolute Thai – Ms Kung (Krun Kung). Ms Naree (krun Naree) successfully formed Thai Dance Society and were quickly recognised by communities and organizations in Singapore.
